Spa town Baden is located in Lower Austria, in the north-eastern part of Austria. Baden is 63 kilometres far from Sankt Pölten, the capitol of Lower Saxony. At the present time Baden has a population of over 25,100 citizens.

Spa description

Baden can boast its hot sulphur baths, which are famous throughout the whole country. Local curing water is suitable for treatment of heart and cardiovascular diseases. Locomotion system disorder, gynaecological diseases, rheumatism, psychosomatic exhaustion and nerve system diseases are also cured here. Spending time in Baden is also good for recovering from illnesses.

Besides spa resort, you can try sauna complex or modern wellness centre.  Temperature of water in pools moves about 36 degrees of Celsius.

Short history

Baden was explored by the Romans, who healed their ailments here. Local curing water contains big amount of salt and radon. Roman emperor Claudius founded here a settlement called Aqua. Baden was also favourite place of Habsburg dynasty members. Modern spa resort was opened in 1999.

Places of interest

For spa guests there are many interesting places and attractions. Famous German composer Ludwig van Beethoven lived in Baden and you can visit his museum here. You can visit interesting museums or horse racetrack.

In the centre of the town there is picturesque square and a Baroque Holy Trinity column. Rose lovers should visit local rosarium in park Doblhoff, where you can find 600 rose species. Worth to visit are Doll Museum and Franz Joseph Museum with collections of local craft and art.
