Jánské Lázně is located in Hrades Kralove region, which borders with Poland.

This spa town lies under the Giant Krkonose ridges at the foot of the Black Mountain. This small spa town has around 879 people.

Spa description

Jánské Lázně is one of the oldest spa towns in the Czech Republic. The spa focuses mainly on treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. With a great success rate central and peripheral nervous system treated here.

The consistence and temperature of the local mineral water helps to relieve the pain and tiredness of the human body. Since this spa specializes in treting movement disorders, all devices are tailored to patients with difficult movement.

This town is also an ideal place for relaxation and recreation. Since it is located in the beautiful mountains, the winter months are widely used as a quality ski resort.

Short history

The first mentioning of this spa dates back to 1005, when the local spring source was used to drive wheels for mining ore.

Very first reports of  usage of the local thermal water as treatment, are from 14th century. From this period, the Jánské Lázně has carried on growing and developing.

In the first half of the 20th century special treatment methods were introduced for treating patients recovering from polio. This treatment methods were successfully taken from American Warm-Springs Spa based in Georgia. Water analysis showed that the composition of the water in Jánské Lázně was very similar to one in Warm Spring spa. Since then Jánské Lázně was specialized primarily in treating musculoskeletal and neurological diseases.

Places of interest

This spa town is ideal for hiking, as it lies a below the Great Mountains Ridges. One of these ridges is also a famous mountain called Cerna Hora (Black Mountain).
