Short history

Bad Berka Spa was founded in 1898, so it is old more than one hundred years. Even before the foundation, the place was several times visited by famous German poet Goethe, who lived there with his friend Heinrich Friedrich Schütze. Mr. Schütze was one of the men who participated in the foundation of the spa. For this purpose, the local spa complex is sometimes dubbed as "Das Goethebad im Grünen" (Goethe spa in green).
