Bad Wiessee is a Bavarian spa town and holiday resort which is situated by the beautiful Lake Tegern at the foothills of the Alps. Bad Wiessee is situated 725 metres above the sea level and is surrounded by the beautiful and unspoilt nature..

Local sulphurous spring releases hydrogen sulphide which easily penetrates through the skin. From the skin it moves to other parts of the human body. Especially into cartilage, ligaments and tendons.

Short history

Spa town Bad Wiessee has a great history. The first information about the town dates back to year 1017. In 1441 they found the paraffin oil under the town. In 1909 experts explored a sulphur spring. After this they started to build a spa resort.

At the beginning of the 20th century the town was given the official status of spa, which led to the great development of the town. Another great boom of spa was there after WWII. In the sixties they opened a casino. After this they built a big aqua park and freshwater aquarium.

Places of interest

Several cultural events take place in Bad Wiessee. These are mainly film festival, summer lake party and chess tournament. You can also enjoy a big sport centre, which offers tennis courts, indoor football field, children trampoline, climbing frame and labyrinth. For your children there is a 60,000 litre freshwater aquarium which is open from Tuesday till Sunday. Cabin funicular Wallbergbahn is available all year-long or you can enjoy a boat trip on the romantic lake Tegern.
