Spa Číž is located in Banská Bystrica Region (central part of the Slovak Republic). Spa Číž are 125 km far from the regional city of Banská Bystrica. Municipality of Číž currently has over 600 inhabitants.

Spa description

Water in Spa Číž has unique composition, it contains iodine and bromine. The fact that this water is unique and exceptional was evidenced by the three extant international water quality certificates from the years 1896 (Certificate of Budapest), 1897 (Certificate of Brussels) and 1904 (Certificate of U.S. Saint Louise).

Salt mineral water from a local source called Hygiea is very rich in salt, bromine and iodine with a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and the total mineralization of more than 13,000 milligrams per liter. This mineral water is used for drinking, crenotherapy and bath procedures.

Spa Číž treats adults and children with different diagnoses. It heals the musculoskeletal diseases, metabolic disorders and endocrine diseases and gynecological diseases.

Short history

Spa Číž foundation was started through very accidental discovery of iodine-bromine source. This finding occurred to one inhabitant of the village in 1862. In 1865, the detailed chemical analysis of the water content of the active elements shown that the water is rich of iodine and bromine. In 1888, spa complex is built around the source, which still serves its purpose.

In wide offer range of Spa Číž is for example additive and mineral baths, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, heat therapy and therapeutic exercises. With its dry sunny climate, this spa is suitable for heliotherapy. Spa Číž offers heliotherapy since 1999 and provides it to children with disorders such as coordination and neuro-muscular diseases.

Spa visitors can also visit gym, billiards, golf simulator, bowling, mini-golf, tennis court, table tennis and vital sauna world.
