Spa Rajecké Teplice is situated in the Žilina Region, in the north-western part of the Slovak Republic. This spa town lies 15 kilometres far from Žilina and has a population of 2900 people.

Spa description

Rajecké Teplice has an exceptional location, as it surrounded by the mountains of Strážovská hornatina, Súľovské pohorie and Malá Fatra. It lies rather close to the region’s capital Žilina, in the valley of the river Rajčianka at the altitude of 420 metres above sea level. The spa is situated in the middle of vast park that gradually changes into a forest. The scenery is dominated by an unusual group of rocks called Súľovské skaly, which helps to create an unusual magical atmosphere of the spa.

To treat its patients, the spa uses thermal water and peat from the rich deposits of the area. Nervous diseases, psychic and occupational diseases and the diseases of bones, muscles and joints are usually treated here.

Short history

The spa in Rajecké Teplice has been known in the wide neighbourhood for quite a long time, with the first written evidence dating back to as early as the 14th century. Thanks to the lords of the Lietava domain, to which Rajecké Teplice belonged, the spa was flourishing as early as at the beginning of the 17th century.

Places of interest

Rajecké Teplice is an ideal place for hikers. If you feel like climbing hills all day, you can choose one of the several interesting hiking paths that begin in the town center. On one side of the spa, Súľovské skaly and the castles of Hrušov, Súľov and Lietava can be seen, on the other side, you can enjoy the view of the Malá Fatra national park and the castle of Kunerad. One can also explore the village of Terchová and Jánošíkove Diery canyon with about twenty little waterfalls, which are connected by a system of narrow ladders and bridges.
