Mineral spa Vyšné Ružbachy is situated in the northeastern part of Prešov Region, Slovak Republic. Spa Vyšné Ružbachy is 78 km far from the regional city of Prešov. The village Vyšné Ružbachy currently has over 1300 inhabitants.

Spa description

Spa Vyšné Ružbachy lies on the southern slopes of the High Tatras at an altitude of 623 meters. The spa is situated in beautiful countryside on the edge of two national parks,  TANAP and PIENAP.

In Spa Vyšné Ružbachy rises 14 mineral springs. Their healing water is used for bathing and Joseph spring is used for drinking cures. The spa treats especially diseases of the heart and vascular system, respiratory system, mental disorders, climacteric syndrome and other illnesses. Medical springs of the spa are also sought for recovery after cancer treatment.

The spa area includes accommodation in a four star Grand Hotel Strand, which is built in the Spanish style, and offers single and double rooms. Total capacity of beds is 122. In the beautiful area you will also find therapeutic Travertine House I, which is connected through a corridor to the spa house Travertine II.

Short history

History of the spa dates back to 1595, when the first spa buildings were built, including the swimming pool, kitchen and meeting rooms. Since then, the spa represents a very popular place for Polish and Hungarian nobility.

Places of interest

To features and great attractions of Spa Vyšné Ružbachy can be listed a small pond "Crater", which has an overall diameter of twenty meters. This remarkable lake is filled with thermal water from the Isabella stream. The lake is a natural monument, forming travertine descending hills nearby mineral spring.

In the spa areal there are also interesting rustic wooden houses, which resemble alpine log architecture. Bike paths and horse riding provide the active rest in the spa. In winter you can purchase discounted passes to a nearby ski resort.
